The Atomic Weapons Establishment– profiled last month – is now advertising for materials scientists with opportunities in radiochem, mass spec, analytical chemistry and spectroscopy. Would suit graduates (2.1 or above), PhD or experienced hires. Berkshire, salary not stated.

For those fancying a move to academia, the University of Bath is seeking a Reader in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering. A demonstration of research excellence, a growing publication record, supervision of research students and evidence of winning grants are essential. £45-53k.

A London-based consultancy serving the oil/gas/petrochem industries is looking for a thermodynamics specialist to further develop their main software program. Requires a PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry or physics and a solid understanding of thermodynamics. £25-35k.

A manufacturer of environmentally friendly cleaning products in Oxfordshire requires a senior development/project chemist to work with clients, marketing and sales. Experience with surfactant/water/solvent based chemistry, QC of raw materials and analysis to support formulation, and good communication skills are required. £25-35k.
