27th June Jobroll

After spending a week working through Google’s top 100 suggestions of how to stop your PC infinitely rebooting, here comes the synthetic organic Jobroll....

Speciality chemical company Croda is advertising a couple of positions this month, both based in Hull. The European Synthesis Team seeks a research scientist to synthesise new materials and work with marketing to develop new materials - degree or PhD required, preferably with experience. The Technical Engineering Department seeks a development scientist to undertake lab, pilot plant and manufacturing scale work to develop existing and new processes. Degree required; process optimisation experience advantageous.

Key Organics – chemical supplier and contract services provider to a variety of sectors – has a number of vacancies for synthetic organic chemists, working in Custom Synthesis, Intermediates or New Products. Based in the picturesque village of Camelford in North Cornwall, their flexitime scheme probably allows for some mid-week surfing action over the summer months. Opportunities exist for graduates (min 2:1) and organic PhDs; some industrial experience advantageous.

A high value technology company in Leeds is looking for a synthetic organic chemist (£20-30k) to join their R&D department, initially in a temporary contract. The role includes the synthesis and analysis of organic molecules and development of these into medical devices. PhD or degree with 3 years experience required.
